Nature journaling coming your way!

Greetings after a long silence. It may not show on the website, but we have been busy.

Expect more blog posts and new content on Stewardship in the coming weeks.

Until then, here are a few activities online to keep you going.

Nature Journaling for Birders - Saturday 24 April 2021, 2:00-4:00 pm

Please register for this online zoom session using this link.

Topic: Making Sense of Sound

This month we’ll explore ways to listen to, process and transcribe bird sounds as written and visual notes on the pages of our nature journals. The session format will be a combination of inputs, discussion and online practice.

Suitable for birders of all levels and styles. Have on hand your nature journal or a notebook or some loose paper. Use whatever you have at home. Please log into the session 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.

FREE for BirdLife Ethekwini KZN members.

Visitors welcome but will only be admitted to the Zoom Room after EFT proof of payment (R30) is sent to janette@mweb.co.za.

This workshop is part of ongoing activities of BirdLife Port Natal. The only change is that this local bird club's name is now BirdLife Ethekwini KZN!

In June there are two major events on the nature journal calendar Take some time for yourself by making a bit of space in your life for

International Nature Journaling Week (no charge)

and

Wild Wonder Conference (scale of fees)

International Nature Journaling Week - 1 to 7 June 2021

"This year the themes for International Nature Journaling Week will explore the three ‘languages’ of nature journaling (words, pictures and numbers) and the three prompts ‘I notice…I wonder…It reminds me of…’ These two triads, used together, are a powerful tool for cultivating curiosity, connecting with nature and building a rich and rewarding nature journaling experience. The final day will bring together all that we have explored and focus on creating a positive nature journaling mindset. That day will focus on cultivating a growth mindset, integrating nature journaling into your daily life, silencing the inner critic and so much more!

1ST JUNE - WORDS

2ND JUNE - PICTURES

3RD JUNE - NUMBER

4TH JUNE - I NOTICE…

5TH JUNE - I WONDER…

6TH JUNE - IT REMINDS ME OF…

7TH JUNE - MINDSET MATTERS

Plus, there will be a series of live workshops happening during the week!

Luckily all of the workshops will be recorded. They will be available from the INJW website. So, if any or all of the workshops are at an inconvenient time, you can watch them afterwards!

Have fun and keep in touch on social media by using #naturejournalingweek.
